Chelsea ready to forget Max Allegri as they made 49-year-old EPL manager their No.1 option

Chelsea have reservations about making Massimiliano Allegri their next manager and will reportedly consider Javi Gracia as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement.

It is claimed the Blues have agreed to let Sarri join Juventus after rebuffing the Italian’s offer to remain at Stamford Bridge. Sarri’s move to Turin is now expected to be announced in the coming days, with the former Napoli boss set to take over from the successful Allegri.

Allegri won five Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia trophies in his five-year stint at Juventus but left at the end of the 2018-19 season and is said to be keen to join Premier League club, Chelsea.

But, according to ESPN FC, there is a reluctance from Chelsea to appoint a third successive Italian manager, following the short and turbulent stays of Sarri and his predecessor, Antonio Conte.

It is claimed the doubts over Allegri mean Chelsea have identified Watford’s Gracia as a possible target to replace the departing Sarri.

Gracia, 49, arrived at Vicarage Road last year and has impressed the Chelsea board after leading the Hornets to the FA Cup final last season.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has also been linked with the job after taking Derby County to the Championship play-off final in his first season in management.
