A round up the day’s latest Chelsea transfer news as Frank Lampard awaits his first January signing
Away from the field, Frank Lampard is still awaiting his first signing at Stamford Bridge, having faced a transfer ban in the summer.
A host of names have been linked with a move, with a new attacker at the top of his wish list.
Speculation continues to mount about a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, whilst Lyon’s Moussa Dembele has all been touted for a transfer.
Here, we round up the day’s latest Chelsea transfer news.
Chelsea urged to sign Grealish
Former Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson has urged Frank Lampard to sign Jack Grealish to replace Eden Hazard.
The Blues boss has made it clear he’s looking to sign a replacement for the Belgian star, who joined Real Madrid in the summer.
Grealish could be that man, according to Hudson, having impressed for Aston Villa in the Premier League this season.
“I am his biggest fan,” Hudson told CaughtOffside .
“Grealish is the most outstanding attacking midfield player in the game at this moment.
“A player who goes past people and scores goals. The bottom line is Chelsea haven’t got anyone since (Eden) Hazard left who has the fans on the edge of their seats. Jack Grealish would be that man.”
Pedro’s next destination
Chelsea winger Pedro made a rare appearance for the Blues this weekend in their 2-1 FA Cup win over Hull City.
The Spaniard, out of contract in the summer, has found first-team minutes hard to come by under Frank Lampard.
As a result, the ex-Barcelona winger looks certain to leave the club in the summer.
Sport reports he’s had an offer from Japanese side Vissel Kobe, home of former teammates Andres Iniesta.
Goal, meanwhile, report that Pedro is a target for David Beckham’s new MLS club, Inter Miami FC.
Atletico deny Cavani medical
Atletico Madrid have denied that Chelsea target Edinson Cavani has had a medical with the La Liga club.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at the Parc des Princes in the summer and has already submitted a transfer request amid links to the Blues as well as Manchester United.
It has been reported that Cavani was in Madrid to undergo a medical with the La Liga outfit during their 0-0 draw at home to Leganes on Sunday.
But Spanish publication AS insists Atletico have denied the claims, despite their apparent need for a new striker.
