Chelsea transfer Rumours: Kante to leave, Giroud deal ‘one step away’

Chelsea have enjoyed a successful first half of the season under Frank Lampard and are in a prime position to secure Champions League football again next season.

However, the past months have seen a dip in consistency, opening the door for Chelsea’s rivals to close the gap, and it means there is a significant fight on the horizon.

Lampard was restricted in the summer due to the FIFA-imposed transfer ban but that has been lifted for the mid-season window, allowing the former midfielder to improve his squad.

Chelsea transfer Rumours: Kante to leave, Giroud deal 'one step away'

Kante to Leave

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is eyeing an exit from Stamford Bridge in the summer in order to seek a transfer to Real Madrid and a fresh challenge, according to The Sun.

Kante’s rise over the past five years has been one of the biggest success stories in the Premier League, arriving as an unknown and going on to win Premier League trophies with Leicester City and Chelsea, as well as the World Cup with France.

Giroud deal ‘one step away’

Olivier Giroud’s transfer from Chelsea to Inter Milan is on the verge of going through and is reported to be ‘one step away’ from completion, according to Sky Italia.

Chelsea were immediately said to be seeking around €8-10m for the French World Cup winner, a price that Antonio Conte’s side were not prepared to match.

However, those demands have been reduced to €5m plus bonuses and an agreement is close, with Inter’s latest offer said to be €4m plus bonuses.

Giroud tipped for Tottenham

While Olivier Giroud is seemingly on the brink of securing a move to Inter Milan, Sky Sports pundit Gary O’Neil has tipped the experienced striker to move to another London club.

“[Giroud] would fit [at Spurs], wouldn’t he? He’s used to playing that role where he’s not the main man at the two clubs he’s been at,” O’Neil said.

Giroud, formerly of Arsenal, would be making quite a career move if he was to join a third club in England’s capital city but there is a spot there for a forward with Harry Kane sidelined until April.
