London club’s legal team are confident that their two-transfer window ban will be lifted and they can bring in some cavalry during the January transfer window. As a result, Chelsea are targetting RB Leipzig centre-forward, Timo Werner.
Germany international is one of the hottest prospects in the transfer window, and even though he has signed a new contract with the Bundesliga giants at the beginning of the campaign, his red-hot form continues to attract top European clubs.
Timo has already scored six goals in nine Bundesliga matches this campaign. In total, Werner has scored ten goals this term, which includes two goals for the national team, European Championship and friendlies, while the other eight came for the club, DFB Pokal, Champions League and Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old striker is yet to provide any assist with this campaign, having played 1659 minutes. German centre-forward scored 19 goals in 41 club games last campaign, including 16 in the Bundesliga. He also assisted seven times in the league the previous term.
Timo is in his fourth campaign with Leipzig and has appeared in 134 games and scored 69 goals. Blues, on the other hand, have flourished under Frank Lampard, who brought in academy footballers in the hour of need. Centre-forward Tammy Abraham, in particular, has utilised every chance this campaign.
Even though Werner already proved his potential last campaign, where he scored 25 goals for Aston Villa in the Championship, his eight goals in 10 league games this campaign has earned him a place among the rising stars. Timo is a regular member of the national team squad which is already a big success for the centre-forward.
